Piped Dream in Cesspools

I feel real bad for the people affected by Katrina. Yet, I have a big problem with the media coming down on the federal government and the countless people crowing about negligence. Aren't there a few other states and people who were ravaged years earlier; still waiting on relief efforts? Again, the media being so determined to deflower Bush; that their lack-luster reporting is failing to deal with those people still affected from Ivan. Worse yet, there are engineers working on repairing things down there who believe the levees will not hold.

So, here again we have a BIG STORY that will not get any play and when the next Category 3 Plus storm comes in; New Orleans will be sleeping with the fishes. And, worse yet; Bush will be blamed for the idiot Nagin and his stupid comrades! I wouldn't be surprised if New Orleans doesn't get hit twice this year during hurricane season with a Category 2, which will weaken the faulty levee and then get hit with a Category 4 to decimate the area. But, I am no meteorologist. Then again, they're usually less than half accurate so my odds increase!

  1. I'm glad to hear somebody else is becoming weary of the media and blame-game syndrome on New Orleans. It's a tragedy, yes, but blaming President Bush is wrong. There is plenty of blame to go around and that includes the local government agencies as well.

  3. The wonderful media, half-right and always wrong, an achievement of sorts...

This does remind me, I should put up my thoughts on what to do for reconstruction there.

  5. Here's what few folks know, that the FEMA game is played like this:

You're a local agency; a disaster strikes; you should already have a plan in place; when your resources are overwhelmed and/or your disaster plan isn't functioning well you make a FORMAL REQUEST to the federal government, via the state government first. Anyone recall what the governor said or how she handled the incident?

Folks, again, if you're looking for the federal government or, for that matter, ANY government to be the "be all" and "end all" of your life, well -- you're going to be gravely (and I do mean GRAVELY) dissatisfied.

Any government does one thing massively well: it spends YOUR money and wastes of good percentage of what it spends. There. The libertarian in me has spoken the Truth.

  6. Actually, if you ask the folks in Florida *still* recovering from the quadruple hit some years back they are *amazed* at how fast FEMA moved after Katrina.

It is a bureaucracy and can only be set in motion when the Governor of the State crosses the 't's and dots the 'i's. Until then, they sit and wait.

Attention to those who have nothing to offer other than mindless drill or just want to harass me: DROP DEAD!

To the others whom I have enjoyed over the years, don't waste you breath on those morons. We have better things to do like contributing to society in a positive way.
