The "eight maids a milking" reminded children of the eight beatitudes listed in the Sermon on the Mount.*
The awesome thing about these beatitudes is that it gives us the correct perspective any person who claims they're following after God should have. Often we (author included) tend to redefine what would be considered acceptable behaviour before God. We have a pseudo form of compassion and dupe ourselves into believing that we have pure motives in our actions. Truth be told, we're devilishly selfish in our intentions. However, these verses in the Sermon on the Mount crucify the icon of self and supplant it with the Presence, Power and Perfection of Christ. Humbling ourselves to live as He calls us will yield a life that is fruitful and appealing to anyone around us.
I pray that today, the Lord will help every person in this new year to have the Kingdom perspective shown in these verses and to follow after the Way, Truth, and life: Jesus Christ.
God bless you all

Attention to those who have nothing to offer other than mindless drill or just want to harass me: DROP DEAD!
To the others whom I have enjoyed over the years, don't waste you breath on those morons. We have better things to do like contributing to society in a positive way.
